The family Leeb is sad to announce the passing of Anny Leeb on November 25/2016 peacefully in her sleep. She had no serious diseases or afflictions, her body just decided that 94 was enough.

Anna is survived by her children, David (Wolfi) Leeb and Gunther (Wally) Leeb and predeceased by her husband Walter Leeb. She has four grandchildren, Matthew , Catherine , Nicholas , and Mackenzie.
Anny was born in Vienna, Austria to parents Anna and Leopold Bruckner. She lived through the bombings in Vienna during the second world war and emigrated to edmonton, alberta, canada in 1953 (on the famous Queen Mary btw. her shipping trunks still bear the stickers!).

Due to her love of classical music, she and dear friends from Club Austria created the Johann Strauss Foundation which still exists today. The foundation raises scholarship money for classical music education which is given to gifted local artists for further education with the best musicians/teachers in vienna,austria, the home of classical music. The foundation still puts on on the Johann Strauss Ball every february with members of the Edmonton Symphony and scholarship winners.

The date and place of her memorial service will be announced at a future date. It was her wish that her life would be celebrated at her parish, St. Joseph’s Basilica.

Kathleen Rita McCarthy was born in Northern Alberta on September 9, 1925 and passed away at the Good Samaritan Southgate Centre on November 26, 2016.

An Edmonton teenager during WWII, Kathleen was employed at “The Gas Company” until retirement. Always a “fashionista”, she was a septuagenarian fashion model, still admired for her style. Following politics was a passion; the “political junkie” was an active member of the Liberal Party of Canada. Kathleen retained a remarkable memory and active intellect. She enjoyed life in the Oliver area, overlooking the river valley and The Promenade.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, RCMP Staff Sergeant Eugene McCarthy and Jane Clarke McCarthy, many relatives and friends. She is survived by her cousin, Sheila Walker of Calgary, numerous other cousins and their families.

Cremation has taken place and will be followed by interment, at a later date, in the Edmonton Cemetery. Respecting Kathleen’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Southgate Centre.

She leaves to mourn her husband of 50 years, Achem Joseph; sons: Bill (Erica), Raymond (Samia); grandchildren: Krista, Tyler, Raymond Jr. and Dean.

Wally’s passion in life was her love of dogs.

Prior to immigrating to Canada, Wally worked as a Vet assistant to Dr. Rudolph Franke in Germany. Once in Canada, She continued as a Vet assistant with Edmonton’s General Vet clinic in 1966. Her love of dogs progresses to owing Elmwood Poodle Boutique. One of Edmonton’s longest standing grooming business. Wally was also a Pomeranian Breeder, a passion which earned her Pomeranian “Touché” to be recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club.

With family & friends having visited that day and her sister by her bedside she was finally free of pain & undoubtedly ready to claim her Angel wings.

Illness will have no victory here, he is now pain and illness free forever.

He could have chosen defeat 16 years ago, but instead with his strength and inspiration and vigor for life, we were blessed to have him until this day.
As everyone says “You were larger than life!”

We are heart broken and will miss you always, but we know you are safe and in the loving arms of the Lord.

Dad loved spending time with his family, friends, golfing and travel.

Leaving to mourn Ray are, his loving wife and best friend for 60 years Myrtle, his children Charlene, Jim (Lily) Douville and grandchildren Danielle (Clem), Dayna, and their mom Janice, and Lily’s son Dylan Gayle (Curtis) Graves and grandchildren Kara, Shaina and Brad. All of your grand puppies will miss your welcoming lap and pulling off your socks.  His brother Paul, sisters Henriette, Lucille(Wally).
